CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER:
The Chicano Federation has been a force in the San Diego community since 1969, working to enrich the community and enhance the lives of its clients, through a wide range of social services across the County. The organization serves all ethnicities of all ages through programs such as Head Start and State funded child development services, family child care placement of over 600 low income children, nutrition programs assisting over 750 child care providers and almost 6,000 children, foster care placement, senior and community services, HIV research & education and affordable housing. The annual operating budget is approximately $18 million.
Chicano Federation is seeking a dynamic, growth-oriented leader to continue executing the organization‚s commitment to our community. Reporting to and working with the Board of Directors, the CEO provides primary leadership for the ongoing management of the organization, including fundraising strategy and execution, strategic planning, resource development, and maintaining the financial health of the agency. The CEO serves as the face of Chicano Federation in the community, and is responsible for developing relationships with a range of partner organizations, corporate and private donors, and local, state, federal governments.

Skills / Requirements

Desired Qualifications
-Bachelor's Degree in business, public administration, or non-profit management;
-At least three years of executive experience in an organization with a budget of at least $1 million;
-Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and advocacy;
-Fluency in Spanish a plus, but not required;
-Understanding of the financial and regulatory environment governing the non-profit sector;
-Proven track record in fundraising and development, with both corporate and private donors, and understanding of effective grant writing;
-Working knowledge of the local community, including diverse communities, other social services partners, governmental entities, and philanthropic donors;
-Demonstrated ability to strengthen existing community relationships while simultaneously developing new partnerships;
-Strong understanding of Boards and how to build strong, working relationships with board members;
-Ability to meet quantitative goals as set forth by the Board of Directors;
-Cross disciplinary leadership skills - ability to help Chicano Federation‚s management team and the rest of the organization to work collectively across programs;
-Ability to create an environment that is empowering for staff, the Board, families and other constituents;
-Experience working with a diverse range of staff and community partners;
-Strong commitment to creating an inclusive, problem solving culture;
-Effectiveness working as a change agent, both internally and externally;
-Knowledge and experience in working with and cultivating internal talent and volunteers;
-Out of the box thinker with a hands-on leadership style, when necessary.
