There are a number of head start employment opportunities available with the Chicano Federation, including positions for pre school site supervisors.
Site supervisors work under the direction of the center district manager to develop and implement the pre school program. In essence, they oversee the day-to-day operations of the pre school to make sure that everything is running smoothly, as well as the long-term objectives to ensure that children are developing properly.
Those with supervisor jobs may spend their time:
The Chicano Federation requires pre school site supervisors to have a baccalaureate or advanced degree in childhood education or a baccalaureate or advanced degree in a related field and experience teaching pre school-aged children.
Applicants should have at least one year of experience as a center manager or site supervisor or at least three years of experience as a pre school teacher and one year of experience in an administrative position. The Chicano Federation also prefers to hire those who are bilingual and bi-cultural.
Finally, anyone interested in site supervisor jobs should have a California Child Development Site Supervisor Permit; CPR and pediatric First Aide certificates; food handler certificate; proof of a physical exam and tuberculosis clearance; and a fingerprint and child abuse index clearance.
